This snap from the 1970s captures right winger Les Jones making a tackle on his Loiners counterpart.

Jones was a prolific scorer for the Saints after signing from Parr Juniors in 1967.
He made 485 appearances in the red vee between 1967-81, crossing 283 times.
Note the numbered shorts, a 70s sporting tradition, on two of the most well known playing strips in rugby league.
