AUGUST Bank Holiday Monday marks the 21st anniversary of Saints lifting the inaugural Super League trophy, beating Wigan in the first past the post system.
Saints went into the final game of the season needing to beat Warrington to take the spoils.
It was never in doubt and on a baking hot day, a shirt-sleeved 18,098 crowd packed into Knowsley Road to see Saints triumph 66-14.
All bar two of the tries were scored by backs with Joey Hayes, Alan Hunte 3, Paul Newlove 2, Anthony Sullivan 2, Tommy Martyn 2, Bobbie Goulding, Adam Fogerty and Derek McVey getting the touchdowns.
Goulding tagged on seven goals too and shortly after the final whistle was holding the Super League trophy above his head.
It concluded a remarkable season for the Saints, who had won the Challenge Cup for the first time in 20 years four months earlier.
Saints finished the 22-game season on 40 points with Wigan one point behind.
Saints: Prescott; Hayes, Hunte, Newlove, Sullivan; Martyn, Goulding; Perelini, Cunningham, Fogerty, Joynt, Morley, Hammond. Subs: Matautia, Haigh, McVey, Perelini.
