- Wet weather played havoc with the players’ ball handling but Hull adapted to the conditions better in the second half.
- Saints got their noses in front after four minutes.
- Fast hands to the left allowed Mark Percival to find Regan Grace and the winger spectacularly dived over in the left corner.
- Hull got back on level terms five minutes before half time when they kept the ball alive to work an opening for Marc Sneyd to dance over.
- Saints fans felt the half back had dropped the ball but James Child had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Sneyd added the extras too.
- The visitors went ahead in the 64th minute when Sneyd potted a penalty goal from the halfway line and it proved to be enough to seal the win.
