SAINTS will find out their Super 8s fixture list on Wednesday.

With the regular 23-game season concluding yesterday the elite competition splits into the top eight with the first round taking place from August 3-6.

The eight clubs, who are now battling for a top four semi-final spot, retain the points they have already accumulated.

League leaders Castleford are well clear on 40 points, followed by Leeds, 30, Hull FC 27, Salford 26, Wakefield 26, Saints 25, Wigan 23 and Huddersfield on 21.

Under the existing formula Saints already know their opponents and where they will play, but will discover the dates and timings on Wednesday.

They will play three home games - against Hull, Wigan and Huddersfield - with four aways against Wakefield, Salford, Leeds and Castleford.

Saints have one fewer home game because they finished outside the top four.

The fixture planning could have a massive bearing on the outcome.

The games either side of the Challenge Cup final could have an impact on the Super 8s with Wembley finalists often having it tough.

Another factor on outcomes emerge as the weeks unfold.

By weeks five and six teams may already be out of the running for top four, or - in the case of Castleford - will have already secured a home semi and the League Leaders Shield so will not be playing with the same edge.

Another aspect Saints have to factor in is the games they play with Ben Barba in the side.

He will play in the final four Super 8s games - attendance wise Saints would want two of those to be home games.

But it may also be helpful if the star signing was available for the crunch four-pointers against Hull, Wakefield and Salford.

Given Saints are a point off Wakefield and Salford and two points off Hull FC, they will need to win one more 8s game than two of those three rivals to secure a semi-final spot.

And given they play all three, their destiny is in their own hands.
