SAINTS boss Justin Holbrook has spoken about the selection headache he faces on Friday night against Widnes.

Jonny Lomax made his return on Sunday whilst Theo Fages will be back after his head knock.

He now has a dilemma at who to select at full back, wing, six or on the interchange – but is happy to have it.

Holbrook said: “Tommy Makinson has done a great job for us at fullback but he would be the first to admit his preferred position is on the wing.

“It was good to have Jonny back on Sunday.

“He was a little bit rusty but the more he plays the more match fitness he will get.

“ He will definitely get better as the weeks go on.

“Theo Fages should be right to return too after his head knock.

“We have to look after his welfare and after having two this season we sat him down for 14 days.

“It means we will have a big decision to make in the next couple of days.”

Saints aim to bounce back from Sunday’s late loss at Castleford and are desperate for points.

The Vikings come into the game on the back of two good wins.

Holbrook wants points and improvement.

“For us it is about getting our own game right,” he continued.

“We have had a good look at that and where we can improve but we haven’t got time on our side.

“We have to improve straightaway and we have to do that on Friday.

“On Sunday, we showed how well we could defend but being kept to 12 points was disappointing.

“We made the players aware of where the improvements could be made and they agreed with them.

“Now we have to show it in games.

“We have a bunch of guys here that want to learn. Even the most experienced are open to that.

“They want to learn, get better and be part of it like I do.

“Our focus is on improving our own game.

“We are defending well, which is important, but we have to get better in attack.

“We are going in the right direction and that is where we all want to head.”

Looking at Widnes, who beat Saints with a Pat Ah Van try in April, Holbrook said: “They have had a couple of good wins and Rangi Chase brings that excitement of his game into their team.

“They are a hard working side and now they have got as bit of flair to go with it.”
