THERE have been no developments on the story linking former Cronulla full back Ben Barba with a move to Saints.

Although currently playing rugby union with French side Toulon, Barba was at the Magic weekend capturing the attention of Saints, Warrington and Catalans.

Although new Saints boss Justin Holbrook, who worked with Barba at Canterbury, admitted to speaking with him, there is currently no progress on that.

Saints CEO Mike Rush said: “Ben Barba is on the market and his time at Toulon is coming to an end, but he remains a Toulon player.

“There is interest but we are not the only club showing an interest but at this stage it has not progressed any further.

“I would look at every angle to get Barba here, but there is a lot of water to go under a lot of bridges before we get to that stage.

"He has a 12-game ban, which the RFL state they would have to uphold.

"Whether we could appeal that in the light of other cases. But unless he signs for us that is not our concern."
