SAINTS prop Kyle Amor was the club’s player of the year last season.

But despite a series of consistent performances in the middle, the popular Cumbrian was still overlooked for the Four Nations at the end of the season.

England is currently blessed with some real quality among the big men - with the Chris Hill and James Graham augmented by the inclusion of the Burgesses.

But Amor has not given up on the chance of forcing his way in and has again being included in the Elite Performance Squad.

Amor said: “I have always been a big believer that if you do your job to the best of your ability, especially in a team sport, if everyone has the same mind-set then you should not go too far wrong.

“For me it was about my own standards. I felt the year before, 2015, although it was not through lack of effort I was not quite meeting what I was capable of.

“I want to make that England squad. It was something I spoke to Kez about at the start of last year.

“He said in order to do that I have to be consistent each and every week. That is something I focused on, to get that consistency in my game and not allow my standards to drop below what I have set.

“I gave it my best shot last year, but unfortunately fell short with getting the nod for the England spot.

“Getting capped by my country is something I am dying to do because I don’t think I have many more chances left.

“I just want to do the right thing by the club first and if I can do what I did last year then those little golden nuggets will just follow.”
