SAINTS have confirmed the signing of Hull KR forward Adam Walker on a two-year contract.

The club says they fended off several other Super League teams for the highly rated international who has played more than 115 games.

Walker, 25, tips the scales at more than 17 stone – as well as being 6ft 3ins.

Saints head coach Keiron Cunningham said: “Adam is a hard-working forward who will complement the dynamic pack we already have at the Saints.

“Along with his size, he has a big engine, good footwork and at 25-years-old it’s fair to say he hasn’t hit his peak yet.

“We’re looking forward to seeing him develop further at the club.”

The annoucement comes after Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell said Walker had "owed" loyalty to Hull KR after the prop said he would leave following their relegation from Super League.

Hudgell says Rovers supported Walker after he was charged with two counts of attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child, a case eventually thrown out of court.

The Scotland international played 31 games for Rovers in 2016.

Having been dropped by Rovers when the case was initially investigated by police in July 2015, Walker returned to the first team and continued to play throughout the case.

"It was us who sat round the table with his legal team and repeatedly defended him in the face of criticism," Hudgell told the Hull Daily Mail.

Walker began his career at Huddersfield in 2010 before moving to Hull KR for the 2013 season.

There he played close to 90 games – and won the club’s Young Player of the Year award – as well as appearing 11 times for Scotland in both the World and European Cups.
