SAINTS’ preparations for Friday night’s clash at Wigan have been disrupted by Luke Walsh and Luke Thompson being cited by the game’s match review panel.

And then to add further uncertainty the visit to the tribunal was delayed until Wednesday evening due to the sickness of one of the members.

The hearing normally takes place on Tuesday evening.

Walsh faces a Grade C dangerous throw charge, while Thompson is up on a shoulder charge, also a Grade C offence.

Walsh was sin-binned for his first half throw on Lucas Albert.

Although both are eligible for an early guilty pleas, they are contesting the charges.

Coach Keiron Cunningham said: “We lost a player (Walsh) for 10 minutes. He didn’t put the kid in a bad spot as Albert lands on his back. If anything you have got to commend Walsh for letting him go in the tackle.

“If he had kept hold of him he may have put him in a bad spot. If you look back to games like the last derby – Willie Isa tipped JT and did not get 10 minutes or go up to the disciplinary.

“I am sure the trial by video did not help. Summarisers are there to analyse the game, not to put my players in front of the disciplinary.

“There is nothing in the Tommo one - he got the tackle wrong and tried to put his right arm round but then they clashed heads.”
