AUSTRALIAN scrum half Luke Walsh returns to the squad for Saints’ home Super League clash against Widnes Vikings.

Walsh has not played since hurting his calf early in the match at Hull at the end of May, with Saints using Jordan Turner and Jon Wilkin in the halves for the last two weeks.

Adam Swift is missing, having suffered concussion at Wakefield, and centre Dominique Peyroux is out with a leg injury.

It could either mean that Wilkin could move back into the pack, or Turner switches to centre.

Keiron Cunningham said: "I know Luke Walsh can influence games and he is a good half. Jon has had his critics this year, but he is leading the team around the field brilliantly. Maybe if we can chuck Walsh in that mix around Jon and JT and find a spot for them all that would influence us even more.

"Another voice on the field is better than two."

Swift’s absence is a blow, but coach Keiron Cunningham said protocols must be followed.

He said: “Adam Swift has concussion, so the turnaround of five days is no good.

“Swaffer, to his credit, carried on till half time but he didn’t seem himself so we got him checked.

“It is sensible – protocols are there for a reason but it is unfortunate. Swaffer was playing well too.”
