FOUR uncapped Saints are among the club’s five strong contingent who were invited to meet England’s new national coach Wayne Bennett.
The Australian, who is preparing for his first Four Nations in charge of England, met with 31 Super League players last Monday and also visited the different facilities that England will use throughout their 2016 Four Nations campaign which begins in October.
The five Saints players involved were centre Mark Percival, props Kyle Amor and Alex Walmsley, second rower Joe Greenwood and long-serving England hooker James Roby.
Injury has curtailed Percival and Walmsley’s possible involvement in previous series, while Amor has forced his way into the reckoning after virtually carrying the Saints front row so far this term.
The England squad: A Walmsley, R Roby, M Percival, K Amor, J Greenwood (all St Helens), B Currie, B Westwood, C Hill, D Clark, S Ratchford (all Warrington), B Ferres, Z Hardaker, K Watkins, R Hall, T Briscoe, S Ward (all Leeds), J Bateman, D Sarginson, L Farrell, D Manfredi, S O'Loughlin, M Smith, J Tomkins, S Tomkins, G Williams (all Wigan), J McGilvary, L Cudjoe (both Huddersfield), Kevin Brown (Widnes), Luke Gale (Castleford), M Sneyd, S Taylor (both Hull).
