SAINTS coach Keiron Cunningham says he is not fazed by the team’s recent results ahead of Friday’s trip to league leaders Warrington.

Last week’s 17-16 loss at home to Hull signalled Saints’ third defeat in four as they dropped to sixth in the Super League table.

However, Cunningham states he is not worried by criticism of the side and says he is pleased with the team’s performances.

“Outside influences have never affected me and they never will,” he said.

“The season’s not a season until you hang up your boots at the end of it and you see where the dice lie.

“It doesn’t bother me, we pick up and brush ourselves down and move on for the week after. That’s all you can do in rugby league.

“The competition is getting stronger, whether people don’t understand that or everybody thinks that it’s 10 years ago it isn’t.

“Times are changing, we’ve all got the same pool of money for the same pool of players. You’ll see plenty more wins and losses throughout the year for every side in the competition.

“I’m more than happy with where we’re at, we played really well against Widnes and I thought we did against Hull. We probably deserved something out of it, I thought we were the better side for large periods.

“I thought our efforts as a side in the last two games have been better than some of the games we’ve won earlier in the year. If we keep doing that we’re not going to be far short every week.”

Saints face the prospect of a trip to the top of the table Wolves, who have only lost once so far this season and produced an impressive display at Wigan though they have lost the services of form scrum half Chris Sandow with a hamstring tear.

“Every game is a tough game and nothing changes this week,” added Cunningham.

“Warrington are the form side of the competition, they’re sat on the top of the ladder and everybody else is trying to get to where they are so they don’t come much tougher for us but it’s not going to be any tougher than last week or the week before or after.

“Every game is difficult but we enjoy playing against Warrington as they do against us, it’s a local derby which always gives us some form of fireworks so we’re looking forward to it.

“It’s definitely a bonus for us that Sandow doesn’t play but they’ve got 17 other blokes who are pretty good players too. We’ve got to be ready on the night.

“We know how they’re going to start and we know what we’ve got to do.”
