THE first year of this century was a turbulent one for reigning champions Saints - with coach Ellery Hanley being sacked and replaced by Leigh boss Ian Millward.

The team still had a fantastic roster of World class players in a Super League awash with talent.

But in a tremendous season, full of incident and great tries, Saints again emerged as top dogs beating Wigan at Old Trafford.

Bernard Platt was there to capture it all - and we display here a selection of dazzling images of that year, from the Wide to West try and Freddie Tuilagi's dance.

As part of our ongoing celebration of 20 years of Super league this is a collection of pictures that will bring memories flooding back and put a smile on plenty of faces.
