SAINTS have joined the rugby league community in sending their support and best wishes to journalist Gary Carter, who is in a coma after suffering serious head injuries following an incident outside an east London tube station.
Carter, a popular reporter on the rugby league and football circuit, is a regular at Saints covering games and weekly press conferences.
The 36-year-old from Stalybridge was down in London to cover the weekend's second test, but was allegedly attacked outside Bethnal Green station in the early hours of Friday.
He has surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain on Friday and is in a medically induced coma at the Royal London Hospital.
Saints tweeted: "Pulling for @Gary Carter_1979 at the club. Speedy recovery - love to you and the family #rlfamily."
Members of the England team have offered messages of support too, with coach Steve McNamara adding: “The England team sends its best wishes to him and his family and hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.”
Carter’s wife, Gemma, tweeted: “Hi #rlfamily. Please keep my loving husband in your thought today, say a prayer if you get chance @GaryCarter-1979."
A 35-year-old man has been charged with GBH.
