SAINTS will be gunning to make it a clean sweep of victories over Warrington tonight in the final match of the Super League Super 8s.

Having already defeated Tony Smith’s men home and away and then up at Newcastle’s Magic event, a victory tonight would be the first time Saints have whitewashed the Wolves since they departed Knowsley Road.

Coach Keiron Cunningham, who was a member of that Saints team that strung together a remarkable ten-year unbeaten record against Warrington, expects the visitors to be a tough proposition despite them playing purely for town pride.

Cunningham said: “There’s no bigger game for Warrington than to come to Langtree and to take a scalp.

“We’ve been enjoying our three weeks in the sun and everyone had that belief again, but they want to spoil our party. That is what I’d want to do to.

“But at the end of the day we have hit a lot of pride in Langtree Park and want to build something here, a cauldron. You do that by playing well every time you play there.

“We have got a lot of fight in us and ate not going to lie down and let Warrington take the game, they are going to have to prise it out of our fingers.”

Barring a Wigan defeat, a Saints win would see finish third where they will travel to the second-placed side next Thursday.

Defeat would see them end the year in fourth and mean a trip to whoever finishes as league leaders.

Cunningham is looking for a good display after seeing a gradual build up in recent weeks.

"I am not concerned about the victory, it is all about the performance," he said.

"I said this after beating Cas when we made the top four it was now about the performance because generally when we perform as a club we don’t go far short.

"My key people are playing well, my nine is going great, as are Wilko, JT and Luke Walsh.

"The real key people, who are getting their hands on the ball most, are playing really well and I can see lots of good things building from that.

"Generally when those boys play well rest of the lads go with them."

Saints' clash kicks off tonight at 8pm.
