SAINTS' new prop forward signing Lama Tasi comes with the nickname 'The Bondi Bruiser', such is his explosive style.

The 25-year-old will join the club from 2016 on a two-year deal from Salford Red Devils, it was announced today.

A Samoan international, Tasi started his career with the Sydney City Roosters and has also played at the Brisbane Broncos before moving to this country.

The 16-and-a-half stone forward has made an impact in Super League at Salford over the past two seasons and his hard-hitting style will have fans looking forward to seeing him in the red vee next season.

The signing increases speculation that popular front rower Mose Masoe will leave Langtree Park at the end of the season with the New Zealander linked to a move back to the NRL for 2016.

Saints head coach Keiron Cunningham said: “Lama is a great acquisition for the club and will add a great deal to our pack next season.

“He carries the ball well; is big, strong and powerful and at 25 it’s frightening to think he still can improve.

“We are all excited at the prospect of working with him.

“With the youngsters we have coming through the system here, as well as the experience the senior players bring, we have a good balanced squad for this season and beyond.”
