KEIRON Cunningham says he will seek clarification from the referees over the slow play the balls that were a feature of Saints' win over Castleford.

It was an issue Leeds coach Brian McDermott had highlighted the day before.

Cunningham explained that a team with a quick dummy half like James Roby benefit from clean rucks and fast play the balls, but if the the interpretation is that teams will be allowed to slow it down he would coach his team accordingly.

He said: "Yet again though we seem to be playing to another set of rules.

"I wasn't sure whether it World Club Challenge or Super Leagues rules today but it was different from the other two rounds.

"In round one and two the rucks were quick and there were 20 penalties a game. Then there were none in World Club Challenge and today everything was slow too. If that is how it is going to be then we can coach that.

"Cas did a great job of slowing us down but if that is the way it is going to be then I would like to be told.

"If that is how it is we will be put more emphasis on wrestling."
