SAINTS boss Nathan Brown says they are likely to pair Jordan Turner with Luke Walsh in the halves for the season ahead.

The club's player of the year impressed at centre in his first season since signing from Hull.

A strong runner, with a good pass and fair boot on him, Turner's style could see him being the perfect foil for the dominant number seven Walsh.

It will surprise some, especially given the early noises pointing to Lance Hohaia being given that starting berth.

Saints' other option at stand off is Gary Wheeler, who undoubtedly has the skillset, but has been unable up to now to make an impression due to a run of injuries.

Nathan Brown said: "In the pre season we have looked at numbers of options at six.

"Our nine, seven and one are set in stone with Robes, Walshy and Jonny. Six is a spot where we have experimented with numbers in the pre-season but it is probable that we will run with Jordy in that position and use Lance as a utility type player."

That would leave last year's ever-present Josh Jones and youngster Mark Percival, who impressed in the games he played last season, in the centres in what will be a youthful three-quarter line if Tommy Makinson and Adam Swift get the nod over Ade Gardner.
