Pilkington Recs 80 Featherstone Lions 24
11:50am Thursday 12th September 2013 in Latest News
RECS continued their push for promotion with a huge win over a Yorkshire side that travelled to Ruskin Drive with only 12-men.
The Lions put up spirited showing and credit must go to their young side – in particular two try Anthony Yates – for running in four tries.
But for a league structure that sets itself the standard of being the flagbearers for the amateur game this was poor fare.
For large periods Recs appeared disinterested and lacking motivation yet they still had plenty of freedom to cut loose, particularly when the visitors were down to 11 men following an injury – and later 10 – when another was sin binned.
Recs ran in 14 tries overall with Ste Charlson and Liam Bostock leading the way with two.
Andrew Knapper racked up more points thanks to a try and 10 goals.
And Ryan Hilliard – a try and two goals – also contributed while Jono Peers, Mark Ashton, Phil Henry, Richard Rafferty, Dave Flynn, Josh Lynch, Danny Halsall and Ben Gravener also crossed the whitewash.
The Lions points came via four Richard Frankland goals and tries from Yates (2), George Nuttall and Jack Nicholson.
Charlson was the Albi-tech man of the match.
