Brown expects a tough one at 'stable' Warrington

NATHAN Brown knows tonight’s clash with Warrington will be a tough one for Saints to back up with.

That said, Saints have a good record at the Halliwell Jones, only losing once to the Wolves there.

The only other time Saints have tasted defeat there was to Brown’s Huddersfield in the Challenge Cup semi-final in 2009.

Brown said: “I have said from the outset Leeds and Warrington have been the best two teams in the competition over the past four years and have won six of the eight trophies between them and that does not tell a lie.

“They have stable line-ups, long-serving coaches, and in key positions they have kept the same personnel. That gives them stability.

He was reading nothing into Wolves defeat at Hull KR last weekend.

“Warrington have had a couple of injuries. One thing Tony Smith did last year was give his ageing players a week off here and there,” Brown said.

“It may cost him a game but it keeps his squad fresh. Tony is not obsessed about running first but he wants to win the Challenge Cup and finish in the top four.”
