Jonny Lomax grabs three as Saints thrash Bulls

JONNY Lomax grabbed three tries from full back as Saints comfortably saw off the Bulls 36-10 at Odsal.

With a new half back pairing of Gary Wheeler and Jon Wilkin pulling the strings, Saints had the game wrapped up when trhey went in 26-0 at the break.

Lomax grabbed the opener when he zipped through on the right.

Willie Manu skipped through the middle for Saints’ second and Anthony Laffranchi took a reverse pass to make it 16-0 in as many minutes.

Lomax, who had a fine game in defence and attack, stepped his way through for his second.

It was too easy for Saints when Tony Puletua wrestled over from close range, goaled by Wheeler to make it an unassailable 26-0 at the break.

Bulls scored first after the break when full back Brett Kearney crossed.

It took Saints 30 minutes to get their first score of the half, with Francis Meli holding the ball up well for Lomax to score his hat-trick.

Ade Gardner, playing his first first team game for a while, then crossed, but Bulls wing Elliot Kear scored off the last kick of the game to make the scoreline look more respectable.

Well done boys lets hope
it was just a slow start to
season. Altho i have great
respect for Paul Wellens.
It is essential to have a F/B
with pace, Paul should switch
to loose forward.
