ALTHOUGH they were missing several regulars, Park took the game to the hosts from the first whistle, and some great phase play and support resulted in a try by flanker Chris Dyson, which was not able to be converted.

Warrington however continued to pressure the visitors and scored a converted try themselves, but an excellent penalty kick by Warren Hunt enabled West Park to lead 8-7 at the interval.

The second half however saw the home side take a stranglehold on the game after the first 10 minutes, West Park leaking three tries in quick succession, each of which being converted.

The score was added to by two penalties awarded to the home side by the referee for indiscipline and back chat by the visitors, leaving Park with scant reward for their efforts despite a successful penalty of their own from Warren Hunt and a final try, again from flanker Chris Dyson.

Next week West Park 1st XV entertain Glossop at Red Rocks (ko 3pm), and the 2nd XV, without a game this weekend, look to make amends for the senior side’s defeat , travelling to Warrington.

Sefton 3rd XV 3 West Park 3rd XV 45.

An experienced Sefton side were brushed aside by a lively visitors team which included a good sprinkling of Colts.

The speed and slick passing of of the visitors enabled them to race into a 21pts to 3pts lead by half time, and as the home side tired, West Park scored several more tries to record a comprehensive win.

Tries were scored by Sean Greenall , Matt Appleton, Ben Robinson, Lauren O’Donnell and Patrick Loughnane (2).

Fly half Sean Dingsdale contributed to a fine overall display by adding 5 conversions, with man of the match flanker Charlie Bate to the fore throughout the match, tackling strongly and creating many opening with some intelligent running to create scoring opportunities for others in the team.

Next week the 3rd XV face tougher opposition with the visit of Widnes to Red Rocks (KO 3pm)
