LIVERPOOL St Helens Girls won the RFUW U18 League last week when they secured a 43-0 bonus point win away at top Yorkshire outfit West Park, Leeds.

The LSH side has enjoyed a remarkable season losing only one league fixture and finishing the campaign with both the best attack and defensive records.

The girls were handed the league trophy at the LSH Presentation Evening by women’s rugby legend and President of the RFUW, Gill Burns MBE. Inspirational fly-half and U18s Captain Alison Burrows has been at the heart of the campaign but was quick to praise live-wire half back partner Ellis Greenwood, who along with LSH stalwart Emma Jayne Banks, were the side’s leading try scorers. The latter two were voted Player’s Player of the Year.

They both contribute an enormous amount to the team both on and off the pitch and I have loved playing alongside them”.

Gill Burns also presented the U15s Girls with their League Runners-Up Trophy watched by a very proud coach Shaun Woosey, who said: “The girls have only lost two fixtures all season...and they were seven-a-side games.

“We have over 25 players in our U15s squad and the numbers are increasing all the time and that’s the main thing.”

Both squads are now looking forward to taking on representative sides from the south of France on Sunday at Toulon..

The teams will also be guests at the sell-out Toulon versus Toulouse French title decider.
