Straight from the first whistle Ruskin meant business with a good break down the left from Hughes.
Five minutes later the first point were registered with Cottom striding in from 20 metres.
From the re-start a lapse in concentration allowed the visitors to kick a penalty and to intercept a try, this then snapped the champions into gear. With the pack starting to dominate it was second row M.Tindall who went over from short range to regain the lead for the home side with Fogarty adding the extras.
This was quickly followed by another short range effort from his second row partner Lockett with Fogarty once again adding the extras.
With five minutes to go to the interval it was Farrelly this time who got himself on the score sheet to make it 24 - 10 at half time.
Playing with the wind in the second half and the front row of Owen, Leadbetter and Gee on top in the scrums Ruskin started to run riot, skipper Fogarty was next to score gliding in from 30 metres under the stick to give himself a simple conversion.
There was no easing off from Ruskin with O'Hare and Hughes next to score in the next five minutes, going into the last 20 minutes the champions were still not done.
With half back pairing Foster and O'Keefe going in from short range, the scoring was then compete with the visitors getting a well deserved consolation try to finish off proceedings.
