RUSKIN head into 2018 on an unbeaten run.

The 49-12 success at Sefton’s thirds last time out was their ninth from 11 games this season, while the other two matches were handed to them as walkovers.

They will host Liverpool Collegiate in their next North West Leagues Division Four West outing on Saturday, January 6.

While the margin of victory at Sefton was wide, the win was hard fought in what was their first game for a month.

The win was achieved with a much depleted team due to late cry offs, and showed what the current tremendous team spirit at the club can garner.

After early Ruskin pressure, it was the home side who struck first with a converted try.

Ruskin responded on the back of applying constant pressure and scored three quick tries from Griffiths, Lea and Owen, all converted by Ben Smith.

Sefton scored out wide to reduce the lead but a further try by Griffiths and new boy Owen Scholes left the score at 35-12 by the time the interval arrived.

Ruskin continued to dominate the second half, but were reduced in numbers when Farrelly was shown a yellow card for a technical offence.

This did not stop the scoring due to superb inter-passsing between Derbyshire and Griffiths, who crossed for his hat-trick try.

The win was completed when winger Scholes crossed near the posts to complete the scoring.

Praise must go to the whole team for such a comprehensive win.

Ruskin’s under 12s triumphed against local rivals West Park on Sunday to also remain unbeaten this season.
