CONCEDING three tries in the opening 10 minutes, the first after only 15 seconds, left the visitors with a mountain to climb which, despite a spirited effort thereafter, they were unable to manage.

Fielding the ball from the kick off, it was passed back for clearance but the kick was charged down resulting in a try.

Minutes later, with West Park looking to discover their composure after such an early set back,

Burnage added another try after swift and accurate handling allowed centre Stuart Oldham to crash over

close to the posts. The visitors were in obvious disarray, and almost immediately a fine run by full back

Chris Kornecki brought the home side a further try, facilitated by some poor defensive tackling.

All three tries were converted by stand off Rhys Evans to give the home side a comfortable 21 point lead.

The visitors eventually settled into the game, making a good contest of it, with winger Warren Hunt atoning

for his earlier error neatly converting a penalty , but on the stroke of half time Burnage added another try

resulting from a catch and drive close to the line, and although not converted gave them a well merited bonus point.

West Park picked up their game convincingly in the second half, backs John Pape and Josh Ainsworth together with

forwards Lewis Harris and Kurt Riley were often prominent in both attack and defence, keeping the home side unable

to add to their score and extend their lead. After 25 minutes of the half however the Burnage pack successfully

converted a rolling maul into a try which was converted, and with the last move of the game, the powerful centre

and man of the match Oldham scored his second try which was converted as the referee called time.

The visitors will need to re-establish some self belief in their obvious collective abilities and examine , prefect and adhere

to their agreed game plan for the next fixture on 7th Jan 2017 when they entertain Wilmslow at Red Rocks (ko 2.15 pm)
