ANSELMIANS took the lead in the third minute converting a penalty when the entire LSH back line were offside.

LSH attacked from the restart and after a couple of drives, Anselmians cleared their lines with a kick, safely caught by Jake Hodson 35 yards out. The speedy winger needed no second invitation and sprinted down the left touchline for LSH’s first try. 5-3.

Ten minutes later in the 16th minute, LSH went further ahead after winning a scrum against the head near to the half-way line.

Skipper Darren Wilson picked up the ball, scooted around the two engaged packs, threw a dummy to Dan Filson and then headed at speed for the line for a try converted by Filson.

Anselmians looked dangerous when countering and they hit back in the 29th minute with a breakaway down the left flank bringing a converted try close to the corner flag.

Now only two points ahead LSH seemed determined to go into half time with a score more reflective of their dominance and it came after good work from Chris Houlton continued by Andrew Rawsthorne led to a fine try from Filson.

The second half, in keeping with the gathering gloom, was a muddling affair with neither side making their possession count.

LSH did however register the all-important fourth try when a good backs move saw winger Dave Sutton race down the right wing to bag the bonus point. 22-10

LSH travel to Manchester Medics on Saturday.
