LIVERPOOL St Helens will not know how to feel after losing a thriller at Manchester.

They trailed 31-7 at the interval, only to rally afterwards by scoring 26 unanswered points.

Manchester responded, securing a 46-33 success thanks to two late tries.

They had made a blistering start, scoring four tries in the first 30 minutes.

LSH, who host New Brighton this Saturday, replied when Mark Potter crossed the whitewash following a catch-and-drive, converted by Dan Filson.

Their relief did not last long, for their hosts moved the length of the pitch to register a fifth try.

However the visitors were as brilliant at the start of the second period as they had been bad in the first.

Immediately applying pressure, they were rewarded when skipper Darren Wilson arced around Manchester’s defence to score.

Filson added the extras.

That was followed by another catch-and-drive try on 56 minutes before Dave Cunliffe notched a typical blood-and-thunder effort – again converted – to reduce the gap.

The recovery was completed by an inspirational Wilson, latching on to a pass from Dan Heslop to score.

Filson slotted a conversion from the touchline to put his side in front with seven minutes left.

To their great credit Manchester summoned up a final effort.
