ONCE again player availability and on field injuries contributed significantly to another defeat for the home side,

the visitors eventually amassing ten tries, all of which were expertly converted by fly half Nick Baldwin.

West Park were well in the game until the 35th minute, trailing by only 7-3, but a needless offence in

delaying the taking of a penalty awarded to Northwich, resulted in a player being sin binned, proved costly in

the extreme.

Reduced to 14 men the home side conceded two quick tries before half time and another immediately after the restart, leaving them with an insurmountable deficit of 28-3.

The second half had few bright moments for West Park, other than a try by Lee Rosney converted by John Pape, when the contest was effectively over and had become so one sided as to be somewhat embarrassing.

The home side capitulated to a side which though good ,was not as good as the final score suggests, but were helped

enormously by some abject tackling, particularly throughout the second half of what proved to be a very one sided affair.

One particularly notable performance however came from prop forward Kurt Riley whose enthusiasm and drive saw him always in the thick of things and rightly awarded Park’s man of the match.

West Park will now have to quickly re-focus and re-group for next week’s fixture at Blackburn, and recover the self belief and skill levels that served them so well throughout last season’s campaign.
