WEST Park ended a run of four straight defeats with a crucial 29-20 win over lowly Bowdon to get their promotion charge back on track on Saturday.
They made an ideal start when a superb drive from a line-out put hooker Tom Williams over but Bowdon hit back with a converted try to edge them in front.
However, Park went into the half-time break in front when John Pape expertly stepped his way through to score, with Warren Hunt’s conversion giving his side a five-point lead.
Hunt then exploited a handling error to chase his own hack forward to score and he converted to stretch the lead to 12 points.
Bowdon weren’t going down without a fight though and two quickfire tries, both unconverted, brought them back to within a score of the lead, but Park held their nerve and Pape’s second converted try sealed an impressive win.
Park now move on to their final home game of the season against Anselmians this weekend.
