NEWTON took on a young and lively University side and gave them the lead with a penalty.
Newton then took the lead when a well timed pass sent Damian Whitter over for a try. Liverpool hit back with a well worked try from their speedy backs, then just before half time they increased their lead their lead to 5-13.
The second half saw Newton step up a gear and play their own style of hard and fast running rugby with quick rucks.
Liverpool struggled defending against this style, they looked tiered when Mike Rowe went over from a quick taken penalty, Phil Goulding added the extra points. With the score now 12-13 Newton could sense a win.
From the kick off return Newton again ran the ball back hard with backs and forwards linking well, pushing Liverpool back slowly, after two quick drives from the pack fast hands put Kyle Carter over for the winning try.
This was not an easy win but it did show great spirit to come back in such a way.
A good squad effort with Damian Whitter as MOM.
