LIVERPOOL St Helens have reached the half-way point in South Lancashire/Cheshire One in second spot and can look forward to an exciting and successful New Year.

The 2nd and 3rd XV’s both lie mid-table in their leagues and have all to play for in the second half. Head Coach Andy Northey admits to being pleasantly surprised by the sequence of results and is heartened by the progress being made by the whole club both on and off the field.

He said: “I was looking to consolidate things in the first year but the lads’ performances speak for themselves.

"More importantly the whole club, including the booming mini and junior section is really buzzing.”

President Ray French, who hosted a packed Christmas lunch at the weekend, is also delighted at the continued progress within the club.

The team, sponsored by SolarKing, have won all but one of their league games.

He said: “Things are going well both on and off the pitch. The social side of the club has really developed this year.

“ I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone involved at Moss Lane and our wonderful and loyal supporters a very happy Christmas and a joyful New Year.”
