St Helens Sutton A.C. members competed with distinction in Northern Under 15yrs. and Under 17yrs Championships at Wigan.
The three club members who competed on the first day of the championships all distinguished themselves.
Samantha Fraser won a medal in the U17 shot putt recording 9.39m, Liane Bibby set a personal best (and club record) of 29.43m in the javelin to finish fifth and Tom Green recorded 12.18secs, easing up, having reached the final of the 100m.
The second day of the championship saw debuts for John Ashcroft, Jamie White and Gemma Shaw while old hand Jake Healy contested the 1500m, although not yet back to fitness. John reached the final of the 1500m with 4 min.22.81 secs.
Jake was sixth in his heat (4 min.32.81 secs.) as was Jemma in the 800m (2 min.25.35 secs), one of Merseyside's fastest. In the U15 final Jamie White recorded 4 min.40.58 secs congratulation to each one on their performances achieved in blustery conditions.
Competing in the National Junior League match at Bebington, club members did well against numerically stronger teams.
Two club records were set by second claim members Amyrose Talbot ran 1500 metres in 4 min.52.4 secs and Oliver Roberts who putt the shot 10.24m.
Amyrose also contested the discus and javelin, setting season's best in each, while Oliver ran 400m in 55.9secs and combined with Steve Clague, Thaddeus Anim-Somuah and Adam Fahey to record the fastest junior 4x100m of the season. Thaddeus was completely relaxed in winning the 100m in11.4secs. into a headwind.
Ryan Fahey is new to the under 17yrs age group and produced an excellent performance to take second in the 200m. in 24.9secs., and edged closer to ten metres mark in the triple jump.
Steve Clague set a personal best of 2 min.22.5 secs. in the 800m a distance run by Natalie Garrity in 2 min.37 secs. in taking second place.
Competing in the Trafford Open Meeting, Louise Hayes completed the 100m in 14.7secs, a personal best, and got a bronze medal in the 800m, 2 min.58.4 secs. and threw the javelin 13.00m for another PB. Liane Bibby took gold in the Javelin with a throw of 28.58m, threw the Discus 18.92m and completed the 100m in a time of 14.0 secs.
