SPORTS pitches managed by the local authority have been closed for a consecutive weekend due to them still being waterlogged.
It means many sporting fixtures will be cancelled.
A St Helens Council statement read: “Following an inspection this morning, St Helens Council has decided to close its sports pitches this weekend (October 6 and 7).
“Pitches are waterlogged and not safe to hold large-scale events. The council apologises for any inconvenience.”
