Haresfinch Hawks U13 14 Clock Face Miners 6 HAWKS battled back from an early six-point deficit to clinch a place in the Lancashire Cup final with this hard-fought victory over local rivals Clock Face.

The visitors were first to get to grips with the difficult conditions and deservedly took the lead with a converted try.

Hawks hit back just before half-time though with an unconverted try by Jamie Brownbill.

It was the home side who started better after the break and they took the lead when long-striding centre Luke Chisnall broke through to score, making it 8-6.

The game was then held up for half an hour following an injury to Hawks' No. 11 Jordan Morris but on resumption it was Chisnall who struck again for the Hawks and this time Jonny Greenall added the conversion to make it 14-6.

Clock Face piled on the pressure in the closing stages but were unable to break down a resolute Haresfinch defence.

Man of the match for Hawks was Josh Eaves, with Owen Jackson and Kyle Samuel in contention.
