CLOCK Face Miners enjoyed a 15-point victory in an international clash with Scotland on Saturday.
Face dominated the opening exchanges as the Scottish youth struggled to cope with forwards Connor Cutts, Jake Griffiths, Jack Houghton and Joel Robinson.
Hooker, and man-of-the-match, Lewis Geraghty broke from dummy half to feed Lewis Hatton to break the deadlock, Ben O’Connell successfully converting.
A fine team try increased their lead as the ball moved through several pairs of hands to Sean Marsden, whose pass allowed Declan Barrow to round the Scottish full back and score between the posts – O’Connell again goaling.
The physical Scottish pack started to settle and managed to find a way back into the game shortly after as a period of sustained pressure on the Clock defence resulted in an unconverted try.
Clock regained dominance after the interval and Marc Jones, Luke Beasley and Dylan Westhead all went close to scoring.
With the game entering a scrappy period, O’Connell calmed the Clock nerves with a drop goal.
The scrum half then intercepted a wayward Scottish pass to outpace their defence and run 70 metres to score a converted try.
