St Helens Striders chalk up PBs galore

ST Helens Striders have been taking part in many races across the North West and beyond in the start of a busy autumn racing season.

On Sunday six Striders took part in the annual Natterjack Seaside 10km in Southport. The flat two lap course did not disappoint with many Striders hitting PBs.

First to finish was Tony Padmore in a new PB of 41:47. He was supported by Paddy Lee, also in a new PB of 45:51. Rachael Fishwick was hot on his heels in a new PB of 43:53. Next to finish was Gill Lee in a strong 48:30. Louise Padmore was next in 52:15 with Anita Hall finishing off the pack nicely in a new PB of 54:40 knocking off 3 minutes from her personal best.

David Navis was also running that day, but in the Chester Marathon. His second marathon experience went extremely well, and David crossed the line in 3:51, knocking nearly 30 minutes off his last marathon in Liverpool last year. Louise Read also took part in a Marathon but in Kielder in the North East.

The 90 per cent off road course is defined as the most scenic in the country. Louise ran the course strongly and was rewarded with a new marathon PB of 4:00:53- knocking off nearly an hour from her last one! Well done Louise!

Finally, three Striders took part in the Coniston trail race in the Lake District on Saturday.

The 15k course is part of the Lakeland trail series and is entirely off road and extremely undulating. Gary Spriggs ran the course in 1:22:58 and Simon Poole did his first Coniston race in 1:48:00.
