TWO former Haydock Park winners could go face-to-face at the Newton-le-Willows racecourse on Saturday.

Philip Hobbs' Three Faces West, which crossed the line first at Haydock last November, has been confirmed as a runner at the Betfair Tommy Whittle Chase with Donald McCain’s Whiskey Chaser also among the 15 entries.

The Dr Massini gelding Three Faces West, who has had nearly 12 months out due to injury, returned with a third-place finish last month at Cheltenham in November.

The three-mile race could also feature Peter Bowen’s Earthmoves who is in fine form after winning his fourth outing in a row earlier this month at Aintree Racecourse.

Venetia Williams, who won last year's Tommy Whittle with Yala Enki has entered Vic De Touzaine this time round.

The contest has a rich history of previous runners with Grand National hero Comply Or Die competing in 2007, and Cheltenham Gold Cup winners Forgive N’ Forget (1986), The Thinker (1988) and the smart One Man (1995) taking part in previous years.

The gates open at Haydock from 9.30am with the first race, The Watch Racing UK On BT TV Handicap Hurdle, due off at 11.50am.

The Racing UK Handicap Hurdle will begin at 3.20pm, which follows the Tommy Whittle Chase at 2.45pm.

Entry starts at £18 for the Grandstand and Paddock with tickets in the County Enclosure priced at £31.50.
