ERIC Ranson was first home for St Helens Striders in the Mystery 5k.

Ranson crossed the finish line in Liverpool’s Mystery Park in 19.16.

He was followed home by Paul Demore in 19.44 and David Briscoe in 20.02.

Lisa Cheers was the first of Striders’ women to finish the race in 21.23.

Hot on her heels were Emma Callery in 21.28 and Wendy Davies in 22.50.

With two races to go in the Merseyside Grand Prix, the men are in eighth position and the women sixth.

Adam Pointon represented the club in the Dublin Rock N Roll 5k race and half marathon.

He completed the 5k in 22.35 and the half marathon in a personal best 1:43.21.

St Helens Star:

Tony Dagnall, fresh from placing second in his age category of the Westonbirt House 10k in Bristol, came first in his age category at the Leigh 10k in 46.28.

Striders’ club secretary, Richard Seville was 21st in his first triathlon at Capernwray, which started with a hectic open-water swim, followed by a hilly ride and a trail run.
