PERSONAL bests were achieved as 18 members of St Helens Sutton Athletics Club competed in the opening Cheshire League meeting of the new outdoor season at Bebington Oval in Wirral.

Michael Brussels ran the 200m in a pb of 32.6secs and finished the 1500m in 5mins 27.8secs, while in the same events Charlie Roberts clocked 28.4secs and 5min 59.3secs.

Hollie Brussels threw the discus 9.10m and recorded 3mins 03secs in the 800m for two pb’s.

Twin brothers Max and Charlie Young competed on the track for the first time, in 200m and 800m. Max ran 37.0secs and 3mins 13.4secs, while Charlie clocked 36.7secs and 3mins 13.5secs.

Michael Farr raced for the first time in the 200m, registering 27.4secs, while John Dancer ran his first track race, recording 14.6 secs in the 75m. In the 600m he came home in 2mins 39.2secs.

Olivia Byrom notched 12.0secs in the 75m and 2mins 12secs in the 600m. Adam Beardsworth, on his debut, recorded 30.2secs in the 200m and 2mins 44.7secs in the 800m.

Celine Virton ran a pb 16.0secs for the 100m and threw the discus with a pb 15.60m.

Debutant Thomas Laundry ran 12.8secs for the 75m. Lucy Bridge achieved a pb in the 800m with 3mins 3.6 secs, while Alyx Bridge finished with a pb in the 1500m courtesy of 6mins 32.0secs on the clock. Peter Davies threw the discus 8.26m (pb) and Michael Dobson ran a 2mins 31.9secs 800m (pb).

Niamh Abbott registered 16.0secs (pb) in the 100m and a pb long jump of 3.49m.

Jacob Roberts achieved bests in his 75m, with 12.7secs, and in the long jump, with 3.90m. Elizabeth Greenall got pbs in the 100m, 15.4secs, and the long jump, 4.17m.
