KARATE ace Nicole Donoghue will take on international fighters when she represents England in the World Shotokan Karate Championships, Bielsko-Biala, Poland this weekend.
The 19-year-old, who trains under the watchful eye of Sensei Ian Roberts at St Helens Karate, has studied the martial art for 10 years.
This is the New Bold teenager's second World Championships.
She will fight in the Junior category on Saturday, but will also be stepping up to compete in the Seniors as she supports her team mates.
Donoghue said: "I am privileged to be part of a fantastic association such as the KUGB.
"This is the second world championships I have been fortunate enough to be selected for.
"Representing your country in the World Championships give you an unbelievable sense of pride.
"Hearing the crowd get behind you as you step on to the mat is a feeling you cannot describe and only get in an international championships.
"I am focused, determined and in good shape, and hope to make my team mates and my club proud."
Donoghue will form part of the KUGB England Kumite Team and will compete under the guidance of world-renowned coaches Andy Sherry and Frank Brennan, both former international champions.
