In a weekend that saw the dawn of Spring, St Helens Striders certainly had a spring in their step when it came to racing.

On Saturday the Lakeland Trails 18km Cartmel trail run saw regulars to this event Ruth Besford and Anita Hall complete the course.

Unfortunately results are not yet published.

Striders were busy across the country and beyond on Sunday.

Competing against Mo Farah in the Lisbon half marathon were Chris Reid 1.32.30, Brian Middleton 1.40.58 and Les Abbot 1.48.13. Rachael Fairclough ran a PB at Stafford half marathon in 1.30.41. Meanwhile in Wilmslow Katy Taggart ran a PB of 1.51.56 and Joanne Keogh 1.53.37.

At Ormskirk several Striders ran the 'Jacobs Leg-It 10k' at Edge Hill University.

First Strider home was Richie Seville 40.42 followed by David Navis 43.22, Tony Dagnall 48.49, Colin Wilson 51.29, Tom Towey 52.20, Natalie Duckworth 54.34, Paul Savage 54.37, Georgie Warner and Sam Bailey 57.56, Rachael Tickle 58.54 and Debs Hill 1.03.38. And in Lincoln, Adam Gallimore ran the Lincoln 10k in 47.36.

Mike Brunt was in the saddle representing the cycling element of the club.

He completed the tough Eden Valley 60 mile cycle sportive in a credible 5.39.39.
