COMMONWEALTH Games judo gold medallist Owen Livesey is just short of his fund raising target of £1,200 – a figure which will be matched by Talent Backer if achieved within deadline.
Livesey needs the money in order to attend the next two big judo tournaments – where he hopes to accrue points that will help towards his next goal of being picked for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
If he does not hit the target he will receive none of the money.
Livesey tweeted: “Thanks everyone for the support so far, I really appreciate it.
“If I don’t hit the target I don’t receive any of the money donated already. Hitting the target is huge for me as it means I can get to two big tournaments and hopefully pick up big points.”
In the last 24 hours sports supporters, especially from rugby league, have rallied to get backing for the former Saints junior.
