St Helens Striders were well represented at the final race of the annual Astley Park 4.4 mile Trail Series in Chorley.
A quality field of runners turned out for what was the showcase finale of the four-race series. First Strider home was Peter Fairclough continuing his recent run of form finishing 25th overall in a time of 26.52. The race saw several debutants to the 'dreaded hill of Chorley'.
Paul Demore, 27.39, Scott Robertson, 31.08, Andrea Hill-Jones, 40.42 and Cath Bennett, 49.04.
All pledged to be back next year. Other finishes were Kevin Brennan 27.05, Tony Horsefall 31.57, Gary Spriggs 32.02, Mike Dodd 32.08, Simon Poole 32.40, Pauline Horsefall 33.24 (1st lady V55), Dave Baxter 36.25, Carol Foster 37.18, Rebecca McKenna 38.27, Joanne Jackson 38.44, Geoff Hunter 40.36, Deb Hill 47.19, Lisa Scully 48.28 and Mike Brunt 48.29. Series Honours went to club captain Rachael Fishwick winning 3rd lady and Kevin Brennan 1st vet 45.
Kevin Brennan, Victoria Kehoe and Anita Hall travelled to Dublin for the Rock and Roll half marathon.
Brennan finished in 1.23.32, Kehoe and Hall in 2.30.02.
Adding swimming and cycling to his repertoire, Andy Bridges took part in Liverpool Olympic distance triathlon on Sunday.
The weather wasn't kind and the competitors were not only tackling three tough disciplines of a triathlon but also the remains of tropical storm Bertha. Andy completed the course in a credible 3.44.09.
