RAINFORD Tennis Club’s 9 and Under Team have won their division in this season’s Lancashire Aegon Team Tennis competition.

The team of Phoebe Mitchell, Erin Scott, Robert Wilkinson, Ben Moore and James Fowler won all their matches in the division and will be promoted for the 2015 season.

Under the guidance of captain Bruce Moore the young Green Army team defeated Croston, Darwen, Leyland and Holcombe Brook on their way to the title.

This was the second success for Rainford in this year’s Aegon Team Tennis following the victory of the 8 & Under Team in the same competition.

The fifth annual St Helens Tennis Tournament sponsored by North West Waste Consultants, takes place from 11-15th August and entries are now open to all junior tennis players from across the region.

The week-long competition takes place on the magnificent new court courts at Rainford Tennis Club during the summer holidays with age-groups from 8 & Under through to 18 & Under.

Due the success of last year’s competition, the LTA have promoted the event to a Grade 4 County competition, which should attract even more players than in 2013.

“We are looking forward to welcoming all the players to this year’s St Helens Tennis Tournament” said organiser, Dave Hillier. “Whilst we are delighted to have entries from across the North-West, we want to make sure as many players from St Helens take part in the tournament.”

“We are proud to be supporting the St Helens Tennis Tournament once again” said Warren Aspinall from sponsors North West Waste Consultants.

“The event has always been extremely successful and we are looking forward to having more entries than ever this year.”
