RAINFORD’S two year stint in the Liverpool Competition Premier Division has come to an end following an eight wicket loss at New Brighton.

Together with Colwyn Bay they will play in Division 1 next year.

There was also disappointment for Rainford 2nd X1. Despite a five wicket win over champions Birkenhead Park they were beaten to the second promotion spot by Rainhill seconds by just one point.

It was left to the club’s junior section to provide some cheer over the weekend and they did just that at the Presentation Evening last Friday.

2012 has been the club’s most successful Junior season ever with the Under 11’s, Under 13s and Under 15s all winning their A Division’s in the Southport and District Junior League, a feat never before achieved in the League.

Both the under 13s and 15s have also enjoyed other successes but pride of place goes to the Under 11’s who have won an incredible five competitions.

They have been successful in the St Helens Indoor Cup; the Southport and District U11 League; the Southport and District U11 Cup; the Wigan League U11 Pairs Competition; and the Wigan League U11 Cup. In addition the club has provided 18 boys and girls at St Helens District Representative Level as well as six Lancashire County Players, Dan Harrison, Ellie Threlkeld, Cameron McCulloch, Becky Cline, Joe Noctor and John Dotters.
