RAINFORD earned their third consecutive draw in the Liverpool Competition Premier League against Ormskirk in a game where both sides were effectively denied a chance of winning by the rain.
Ormskirk rattled up 220 for 2 and declaring after 42 overs but Rainford’s speedy and determined response which took them to 51 for 1 before a lengthy stop for rain will also leave them feeling hard done by. Left with insufficient overs to reach their target Rainford’s effort fizzled out in an attempt for bonus point runs at 145 for 7.
Earlier Ormskirk skipper Ian Robinson had scored 110 whilst Andy Davies performed best for Rainford bowling 11 overs and taking 1 for 38.
Nic Hendrie led the Rainford reply before being dismissed for 67 with the score on 100 for 2. Mark Williams (24) then led his side in an abortive attempt to salvage some batting points.
Rainford 2nds move up to second place after a nine wicket demolition of Skelmersdale.
