RAINFORD'S effortless nine wicket victory over Skelmersdale, only made possible by a major clearing up operation throughout the morning, secures them an immediate return to the Liverpool Gin Liverpool Competition ECB Premier Division.
Surprisingly though, having spent much of the season settled in second position, Saturday’s win whilst top team Highfield unfortunately suffered a washout, sees them approaching the final week’s game at Prestatyn in top spot themselves and a win could see them finish as League champions.
Paceman Stephen Birkett took centre stage in the win against Skelmersdale taking 7 for 24 as the visitors were reduced to 54 all out. Leading run scorer Paul Farrar took the opportunity to reach the 700 mark for the season with 36 not out as Rainford coasted home by nine wickets.
