Colwyn Bay halted Rainford’s recent good run with a five wicket win at the Jubilee Recreation Ground last Saturday.

The visitors won the toss and inserted Rainford who were soon in trouble, losing early wickets and were reduced to 56 for 7. A valuable stand between Joe Noctor (49 not out) and James Seward (31) took the total into three figures before Rainford were all out for 125.

The Welsh side were never really in trouble in their reply reaching the total for the loss of five wickets.

On Sunday Rainford lost by 11 runs to Bootle in the Ray Digman Trophy after the Premier Division side had posted 202 for 6 with skipper Andy Davies taking 4 for 40. Joe Noctor capped a fine personal weekend top scoring with 75 in Rainford’s response of 191 for 8.

The 2nd XI lost out in a high scoring affair at Rainhill after declaring on 222 for 8. Tom Brimelow (57), Dave Tully (39), Cameron McCulloch (31) and Joe Bibby (25 not out) were the main contributors. Andrew Harrison took four wickets as Rainhill passed the target with five wickets in hand.

Also on Sunday the 3rd X1 fought out a draw against Rainhill 3rds.
