IN this Med Imaging Liverpool 1st Division first vs second clash at Birkenhead, Rainhill batted first and came back from 17-3 with a mid-order revival.

Rotheram (25), Qureshi (34) and Williams (45) allowed Rainhill to declare on 160 for 9.

Stenhouse (4 for 66) and Foran (3 for 21 from 6) were the pick of the Wirral bowlers.

After losing a few early wickets, Birkenhead were happy to settle for the draw, ending on 79 for 8 from 46 overs.

Qureshi continued his excellent season with 4 for 29 and Williams 2 for 24.

Strangely enough, the batsmen claimed too much sunlight over the sight screen was dangerous and the game ended an over early.

On Monday Rainhill elected to bat against Parkfield Liscard and after losing both openers cheaply, Brown (19), Ford (46) Rotheram (46), Qureshi (24) and Williams (36) allowed Rainhill to declare early at 3pm on 192 for 6.

Spinners Hussain (3 for 39) and Zulfigar (2 for 20) were rewarded for putting the ball in the right areas.

All Rainhill bowlers had success - Qureshi (3 for 38), Williams (3 for 12), Veacock (2 for 19) Atkinson (1 for 5) and Wilding (1 for 0).

With only Hussain (24), Zulfiquar (12) and Riaz (11) getting into double figures, Liscard capitulated to 86 all out. With first placed Birkenhead and third placed Colwyn Bay losing on Monday, Rainhill are two points behind Birkenhead and 50 points clear of the Bay going into the last three games.

With two teams getting promotion, there is everything to play for.
